TERMS & CONDITIONS
Cancellations: We groom by appointment only and request a minimum of 24 hours notice should you be unable to attend your appointment. Failure to give this notice may result in a cancellation fee of £15.00.
Dropping off your dog: If you arrive more than 30 minutes late we cannot guarantee to keep your grooming appointment and a re-book may be necessary.
Collecting your dog: Please be on time when collecting your dog. Our appointment system works on a "1 in 1 out" basis and we do not have the space to hold dogs for long periods of time. If you are more than 45 minutes late without making a prior arrangement with us, a charge of £7.50 will be added to your bill, plus an additional £15.00 per hour there after.
Additional time required to groom: Occasionally it takes longer to groom a dog then we hoped. If for any reason we require additional time we will call you to advise and discuss collection.
Toileting: Please ensure your dog has had suitable exercise and been given a chance to empty its bladder/bowels before visiting us at Mucky Muttz. If your dog is not properly toileted prior to grooming it can be uncomfortable for them and if it makes a mess during the grooming process, we may have to re-bath your dog, which may be chargeable.
Bitches in season: It is not always possible to groom bitches in season as their behaviour and coats can change dramatically with hormone levels which can lead to a stressful visit. Should you find your bitch has come in season unexpectedly, please telephone for advice in the first instance.
Emergency veterinary treatment: Should your dog require emergency veterinary treatment whilst in the care of Mucky Muttz, we will try to contact your vet however, if this is not possible we will use our own vet. All veterinary fees are payable by the owner of the dog.
Aggressive/Bad Behaviour: We reserve the right to refuse any dog due to aggressive or bad behaviour. Please advise us of any previous issues where your dog has shown aggression when being groomed or handled, or was badly behaved. If your dog demonstrates aggression during the grooming process we may decide it is too dangerous to proceed and the groom will be terminated and you will be required to collect your dog IMMEDIATELY however, the full cost of the groom will still apply.
Muzzles: We only use a muzzle on a dog that shows signs of aggression. Muzzles are used as a very last resort when we believe your dog's behaviour could place either the groomer or itself in danger. If we are unable to continue the groom even when your dog is muzzled then the groom will be terminated and you will be required to collect your dog IMMEDIATELY however, the full cost of the groom will still apply.
"Clipping Off" due to a severely matted coat: Mucky Muttz operates in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act (2007). Section 5 states that 'All animals are to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease'. De-matting can be extremely painful for a dog and clipping off is not part of our general grooming service. Cases will be assessed on an individual basis and if after careful consideration for your pet's welfare we agree to de-matt your dog we will discuss the procedure and cost with you. In cases where we feel that in order for us to effectively groom your dog and remove the matts without causing it severe stress and anxiety a mild sedative will be needed, we will refer you to your veterinary practice for further advice.
Fleas: We are a Flea Free Salon and intend to stay that way. If you notice that your dog has fleas please do not bring it into the salon. If we discover fleas on your dog during the groom we will have no option but to bath your dog immediately in a suitable shampoo in order to prevent an infestation in the salon. We will call you to collect your dog so that we can fumigate the premises immediately. An additional charge of £25.00 will be added to your bill in order to cover the cost of the fumigation.
Remember: You should treat your dog regularly with Flea Prevention Medication such as Frontline in order to prevent fleas or ticks.
